Workday's administrator guide lists five key-value pairs for its Android app. Two of them fill in the tenant name and the sign-in address so people do not have to, and the rest control screenshots, suggested updates and the store link used for updates. Workday gives a ready-made managed configuration example, which this page follows.
Copy a setup into the managed configuration of a policy, then adjust the values. Each one uses only keys explained below.
Zero-typing sign-in
Pre-fill the tenant name and address so a new hire opens the app and only enters their own credentials. Check both values before a wide rollout, because a typo sends everyone to a sign-in page that cannot find the tenant.
Find it on Google Play from the policy’s apps list and choose how it is installed.
Step 2Set its managed configuration
In the policy, set the app’s managed configuration with the keys and values from this page.
Step 3Assign the policy
Devices in the policy receive Workday and its configuration on their next sync.
Questions
Workday on managed Android
What is Workday's package name on Android?
com.workday.workdroidapp. Workday uses it as the product ID in its managed configuration example.
Can I block copy and print in Workday on Android?
Not with these keys. Workday says AllowCutCopyPaste and AllowPrint apply only to iPhone and iPad.
Does this need a work profile?
Workday states the work profile condition for the tenant name and web address keys: it describes them for Workday on Android with Android for Work profiles enabled. It does not state a condition for the other three keys. Add Workday to the policy from Google Play, then set the keys in its managed configuration.
What does the tenant name look like, and why hide suggested updates?
The tenant name is the value that fills the Tenant field. Workday uses gms in its example, so ask your Workday administrator for the exact value. Setting AllowSuggestedUpdates to false disables suggested updates for users, as Workday describes.
