A position is a snapshot. Look at when it was collected before sending someone to find a device or asking for a new report.
When a device is offline, its last location can still provide context. It cannot tell you where the device is now.

Ask for a new report only when location is enabled.
Device policy controls location sharing. A new report request still needs the device to connect and return a position. Nomid keeps the last known report distinct from a current response.

Questions before you begin.
Is the map a live view of every device?
No. Nomid shows locations reported by devices and their collection times. A device may be offline, may not have a recent fix, or may have location disabled by policy.
Can an administrator ask for a new location?
The device location view has a request for a new report when location is enabled by policy. A request does not guarantee that the device will return a new location; connectivity and device conditions still matter.
How do we control whether location is shared?
Location sharing can be disabled in the assigned policy. Teams should configure it for their device ownership model and communicate their own location practices to device users.
